Networking connects you to other people who might be able to help you find a job. These people can include family, colleagues, other professionals, community member etc. Each of their networks can become a part of your network.
Start by developing a contact list. Include the following:

For each category list as many people as you can identify and place their name, address, phone number, and the way he or she could help you on a 3x5 index card. This will allow you to create a file that is easy to organize and update. Make sure to use the back of the card to note when you contacted the person, the results of your conversation and how you followed up. Thank you notes to anyone who helps you are always appropriate.
