A number of years ago, Dr. John Holland proposed that people are a combination of six personality types - Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. He further proposed that, based on a person's type preferences, they tend to choose personally-compatible work environments, a sort of…."birds of a feather, flock together" process.
His theory has been confirmed and supported through many years of professional study and independent research. Also, many thousands of users of Dr. Holland's own Self-Directed Search, the Strong Interest Inventory, and other inventories based on Holland typology, have confirmed the practical utility and application of his theory to the real-world process of career decision-making and change.
