On a piece of paper, start a column on the left of the categories you have chosen to be part of your stress management plan. The First column should be the specific area that you want to make changes to. "Areas for Improvement", in the next column the heading should read "Areas I have Control over", and the third column lists " Areas I must Accept & Live With"
"Areas For Improvement" "Areas I have Control Over" "Areas I Must Accept"
EXERCISE/PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
- I want to start an exercise program X
NUTRITION: Eat regular and healthier meals X
HUMOR: Laugh more often X
After you have identified the areas that you want to make changes in and have listed specific changes under each one, and have checked off whether you have control or whether you must accept, you are ready to move on.
The next step is to do an external assessment (scan) of what and who is available to help you. This is the point where you need to start paying attention to everything and everyone that you come in contact with on a daily basis.
